When there is excess buildup of pressure within the pressure cooker, the gasket bulges out through the slot present towards the side in the lid of the pressure cooker. The pressure gets released out through the opening on the lid.

It’s a good product overall. The picture made it seem larger, but in reality, it’s more of a medium-sized cooker. The only challenge we faced was getting used to the handle, as we’re more familiar with inner lids. But other than that, it’s a strong and reliable product.
